This Mexican guitarist won plaudits for his great sense of touch, phrasing and tone – and this coupled with great chops meant that Cesar was always going to be in the running. His choice of entry was picked up on, as it was felt by many that he didn’t show himself in his best possible light, but remember he followed the true spirit of the competition by using one of the backing tracks, as Ed Box comments: “…the other of my track interpretations, and a favorite of mine! Awesome diminished lick at the end, which I will probably steal!” Next time Cesar we expect you to be there!
Cesar Huesca was born in Pachuca Hidalgo Mexico, on August 8th of 1983.
Being always attracted by music since his early days, he used to sing along with his parents records when he was 4 years old, after that he played drums for a while. Hardly influenced by rock music and moved by distorted guitars on MTV, he started to play guitar self-taught at 10 years old and begun to play with many local bands 4 years later.
It was until 2001 after finishing high school that he decided to take music as his life project and got into a music academy in Mexico City, in early 2003 he went on tour all around Mexico and south of the United States until December of 2004.
In 2005 and 2006 he got into many projects of different sorts with producers, bands and singers/songwriters, doing recording sessions and live performances.
In 2007 he participated in the Greg Howe Play For Me Contest, getting into the 7 chosen guitarists and an Honorable Mention by Greg Himself among guitarists from Sweden, United Kingdom, Germany, Russia and United States.
Cesar is currently working in several music projects, both in recording sessions and live gigs with different styles of bands and singers/songwriters, also he’s teaching guitar at a music school and he’s preparing the release of his first solo album.
